Quick couple of questions. One is organic versus non-organic. I read on the mayoclinic site (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/organic-food/NU00255) that there really is not difference. What is your take on it?

Second is I have an ankle injury (shattered a few years back with three pins in ti now) and a birth defect of a shortened achilles tendon, so squating is not only tough, but painful or nonexistent. Is there an alternative you would recommend.

I bought your product way back when it was offered on David DeAngelo’s ‘interviews with dating gurus’ off and am really impressed with it. The text and videos are great. Thanks man.

Hi Mate,
Great question about organic products… my take:

Organic farming is far superior in farming practice allowing for better quality soil… great soil great food.
O.F. looks after the welfare of the animals…. stressed animals stressed meat.

O.F. doesn’t use chemicals on the land or inject antibiotics/steroids into animals… don’t want that in my body.

The Infectious Diseases Society of America, an organization of doctors and scientists, has been bellowing alarms. It fears that we could slip back to a world in which we’re defenseless against bacterial diseases.

There’s broad agreement that doctors themselves overprescribe antibiotics — but also that a big part of the problem is factory farms. They feed low doses of antibiotics to hogs, cattle and poultry to make them grow faster.

A study by the Union of Concerned Scientists found that in the United States, 70 percent of antibiotics are used to feed healthy livestock, with 14 percent more used to treat sick livestock. Only about 16 percent are used to treat humans and their pets, the study found.

Routine use of antibiotics to raise livestock is widely seen as a major reason for the rise of superbugs. But Congress and the Obama administration have refused to curb agriculture’s addiction to antibiotics, apparently because of the power of the agribusiness lobby.

O.F. understands how the environment is a system within the earth system… one affects the other.

since no chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used in producing organic food, consuming organic food means conserving the environment.

The pesticides used in non-organic farming are wiping out numerous species of beneficial insects, butterflies, and birds. It is estimated that about 672 million birds are affected by large amount of pesticides used on US agricultural farms and 10% of these are killed due to these pesticides.

We also contaminate our water bodies with the excessive use of chemical fertilizers on our farms. Loss of soil fertility has also become a matter of concern due to chemical farming.

Organic farming involves methods that help converse soil fertility, and biodiversity. Organic farming is also less energy intensive and helps in saving precious oil for future generations. Usage of organic fertilizers, compost, mulches, and other organic matter helps conserve the microorganisms in the soil, thus ensuring healthy soil. Worms such as earthworms and red worms aerate the soil. Mulches and organic matter minimize weed growth. Multi-cropping, trap crops, and companion planting helps pest control. Bugs can be controlled by using frogs and toads. Organic farming thus uses ecological and biological means to raise the crops. By eating organic food you favor these environmental and sustainable systems.

as for that research… there is always some that can be used to back up or bring down things… I have read a lot of good research
saying it is far more nutritious. I know research that was performed on organic produce shipped from another country
that was always going to be past its time.
The proof is in the pudding… when I eat or get clients to change to organic they stop getting colds and health improves.

<blockquote>Look at the rate of disease. In the year 1900, between one in thirty and one in fifty people would die of cancer. Today it’s one in two and rising fast.

In the year 1900, the amount of organic food being consumed was dramatically higher than it is today. In the year 1945 they sprayed 200,000 pounds of pesticides and herbicides on American farming soil. In the year 2002 they sprayed two billion pounds, yet crop losses were double what they were comparatively in 1945. This shows the cure isn’t working; it’s failing yet they continue to use the same leverage to sell the chemicals.

• Scientific studies show that hands-down, bar none, not only is there far more nutrition in food raised organically, but there are detrimental effects to the consumption of any commercially raised food.

This isn’t only because the commercially raised food carries the residues of the toxic chemicals within and on them, but the soil microorganisms that are responsible for generating the nutrition to feed the plant and provide much of the immune system of the plant are rapidly killed by the application of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.

• One of the things commercial farmers do is they put so much salt on the ground that the plants have to suck up huge amounts of water to neutralize the salt and survive. This makes for bigger, lovely looking produce, but in reality you get big empty corn cobs and big empty carrots.

One research study showed that today, to get the same nutrition from one head of lettuce as you did 50 years ago, you’d have to eat 20 heads of lettuce from the commercial farms.

As concerns your ankle… I would buy a simple yoga wedge and place it under the heel of
your restricted ankle… this will allow you to squat deep and be equal both sides.
something like this…http://www.afitnessequipment.com/aeromat-yoga-wedge.html

Hope that helps :)
cheers Rob
